Home > About Us
In 1990, my very best friend, Tina, lived in the beautiful mountains of Colorado. She and I are thick as theives. There is nothing I wouldn't do for her. She called me one day extremely distressed as her faithful and loving companion, Allie, a domestic short haired kitten, was killed in the middle of the night by a wild fox. She tragically heard the event from her bedroom window.
Shortly thereafter, I lost my Bermese cat that I had had for 12 years to cancer. After consoling and comforting each other with kindness, love, and conversation, both of us realized there was not a lot of support around pet grief. Pets are not just furry animals; they are truly family. I used to work in clincial psychology as a therapist and there is a lot of support in the way of books, grief counseling, group counseling, and public understanding of the loss of a human. However, very little support of the loss of a pet.
Tina and I realized that while we were there to console each other, we really wanted to provide the public with something more than a gift card for pet loss. As you read the items in our grieving basket, you will become aware of emotional support and the process of learning how "to let go". May our care package bring you close to peace with the pain you are feeling now and may that pain move into a deeper understanding.
Sincerely,
Leslie Kane and Tina Landis
